Daily Journey of Design

The life of a Graphic Design student, mother and wife

I have to brag, I’m a Mommy!

MaddynAubri1We live in a small town with a population of 900 so you can quess how big the school is, small.  But for a small school they have awesome after school programs.  Both of my girls are enrolled in the ASP program (after school program) this year and they love it.  It starts right after school and lasts for an hour and a half.  They take small field trips, help with homework and do various things for the community.  Tonight they had their first “Family Night”  of the year that includes dinner and handing out awards.  My youngest daughter Aubri is in 3rd grade and this is her first year doing it, well tonight she won the award for “Hardest Worker”, I was so proud (Yay Aubri).  They also enrolled her in the gifted and talented program for her reading, she is reading at an 8th grade reading level.  My oldest daughter Madysen is going to be a great project planner when she gets older because she wanted to run the whole show tonight LOL.  Madysen received an award for “Best Math Helper”.  I was so proud of my kids tonight.  Both of my girls are excellent in math which is awesome because that is the one subject I always had problems with in school.  You can bet I’m not the one they ask for help when it comes to math homework, thank god my husband is a genius when it comes to math.

Work work work!!

For not having a full-time job away from home one would think that I have plenty of time on my hands. Wrong.  I never seem to have any time to do what I WANT to do.  I’m always running errands for other people or trying to catch up on house work and things to get our business going.  I love it when people call me and use the line “What are you doing today”? I have learned over time to stop saying “nothing, why whats up”?  That just opens a can of worms for the people who know that you don’t have a 9 to 5 job and want you to bend over backwards for them and run around for them because they assume you have all the time in the world.  Now when I get asked that question I never respond with “nothing”, LOL, I somehow always manage to get some time-consuming activity to roll off my tongue whether I’m actually going to be doing that is privileged information:)  Now don’t get me wrong I don’t mind helping people out here and there but everyone has a friend or two that always seems to have a favor to be done for them.  Wow this post kind of turned into a rant(LOL) but maybe for a reason.  There I feel better already.  Blog therapy, Gotta love it!  Anyways back to what I originally wanted to post….So today I have a few errands to run and then I need to rush back home and finish getting the yard cleaned up for winter.  It’s going to be a whopping 50 degrees here in good ole Wisconsin and I want to make the most of it since I may be the last nice weekend before the never ending winter.  After getting all that done for the day I am hoping to be able to do a few things I enjoy or want to do like pumpkin carving with the kids or editing some family photos.  I wouldn’t mind even doing some more on the website, I do enjoy that as well. Have a Great Sunday Everyone!!

Honorific

Well I am using the 365 days of writing prompts to get my blog going.  I am actually going to start off with yesterdays which is “Honorific”.

The person I pick is my wonderful husband Will.  I started dating Will 3 years ago and July 12, 2014 I was the lucky girl that got to marry him.  He always swore he would never get married and everyone believed him, his family was even starting to lose hope:) This man is PHENOMENAL for so many reasons.  I have 2 girls from a previous marriage and Will has been a fantastic stepfather to both of them, as a matter of fact he takes care of them more than their father.  That reason alone is enough for me to love him unconditionally.  He is a very hard worker and feels very passionate about his work.  He has always supported me throughout anything that I was going through and has always given me the best advice, he really is my best friend when it comes to getting advice on tough decisions.  No matter what my job or school situation has been he always has my back.  “HERE’S TO YOU WILLIAM KUEHNE, GOD GAVE ME YOU” I LOVE YOU!!

Moving Along Slowly

Well the website I have been working on for my husband is moving along slowly….but moving along.  I’ve been asking him to pose for me so I can take a decent picture of him to add to his page, but that’s like pulling really big teeth.  I haven’t had much time to work on it today because it was a super busy day.  The kiddos had off of school and did not get picked up by grandpa until about 8 so I was basically cleaning and doing laundry all day up until about 2 1/2 hours ago.  I’m not complaining about the cleaning because I actually accomplished quite a bit.  I finally got my room cleaned and bedding changed, scrubbed down the kitchen and fridge and caught up on all my laundry.  I haven’t been enrolled in any classes with my school for the last couple months because I wanted to get this website rolling and do some things around the house before another freezing winter in Wisconsin ( Gotta love em) so I want to make that a priority next week since the site is coming along.

Need some new motivation!

Okay everyone I’m getting burnt out on finishing up this website.  This is the first one I’ve actually done and it’s taking a lot longer than I had anticipated.  I’ve been working on it now for like 2 weeks.  I guess the fact that I’m also writing and deciding  the content to include and not just the design of the site itself takes quite a bit longer.  I woke up this morning and just felt like doing nothing on the site.  It needs to get fininshed though because he has already started his business and I told myself that before I start my classes again I wanted to finish the site so I wasn’t distracted and could concentrate solely on my schoolwork.  I think I need to go fishing today for a while and come back with some fresh ideas.  I love fishing and there are some pretty good spots along the river where I live.  …….Yep I think that’s what I’m going to do.  So for my Little Agenda for today, first I will go fishing and then come back and finish up 2 complete pages on the site.  We’ll see how I do.  Stay tuned………

Door of Hope and Grace design

This is a flyer I designed for a local AA group when I first started diving into graphic design.  Most of it was done in Photoshop since that was the first program I really knew how to use.  Not the greatest but I have learned so much more since this project.finalglory

A little bland and a little agenda.

Well I spent a few hours last night going through the tutorials to get the gist of this new adventure for me.  I realize there is not much at all to my blog yet and it’s pretty bland but I plan on creating pages showing off my artwork and current projects or assignments I’m working on.  So on my little agenda for today I want to finish making my blog more unique by adding some more pages that I want to include and adding some of my art and projects.  I would like to start posting a “little agenda” daily to remind myself of things that I would like or need to accomplish that day.  I feel this will help me with my procrastination issue ( I’m a horrible procrastinator).

Oh what the heck, why not?!?!

Over the past few weeks I have been working on creating a logo and website for my husbands new business.  I have been looking at different resources online and I kept seeing “WordPress” everywhere.  I had no idea what it was.  Finally last night I looked into it and found out what it was all about.  I’ve never blogged a day in my life and have no idea where to start, but I love trying new things so I figured “What the heck” I might as well give this a try.  I am a Graphic Design student so I think this will be a great way for me to post some of my work and while I am at it post about my day-to-day experiences as a student and my everyday life.
